One of the highlights of Quito, was El Telefériqo. Built by the Swiss, this is a gondola lift that takes you from the edge of the city up the east side of Pinchincha Volcano to a look out known as Cruz Loma at 13,451 feet. The ride is beautiful and worth it for the amazing views of Quito. I couldn't help but thinking to myself "I'm in the Andes!" You can see the valley holding Quito, as well as the Andes sprawling around the city. At this altitude, you have about 1/3 less oxygen than at sea level, so there is an oxygen bar inside in case you need it. We had perfect weather the day we chose to do it and it was just gorgeous.
